Country Schools 7s Rugby Tournament

By Thomas:

In the 7s we had one win, one bye,  two losses and two ties. I had a few good runs but I didn’t get a try. I did some good tackles. Blake Marshall was the best tackler and the best runner and the guy who got most of our tries and if we had a player of the day It would of been Blake. I had so much fun at the sevens and I hope to do it next year when I’m at a different school.

In the rugby 7s we had one bye, two losses, one win and two ties. The first game we lost, the second game we won, the third game we tied, the fourth game we tied and we lost the last. We played Raetihi  TAS  Hunterville St Jos and Marton. TAS was very easy to beat. I had fun. It was a good day. Go on my blog to see some photos – look for the name Tristin. On the 5th of August we went to the rugby 7s we won one we lost two had one bye and came a tie twice. The Hunterville kids were pretty good and fast. We came a tie with Saint Josephs and We Nailed T.a.s!  They were a bit littler than us though. The grand stand was stuffed with gear bags and rugby stuff. Matoroa came up and cheered us.  At the end there were free posters down the bottom. I got one!

I thought the rugby 7s was a great opportunity for all beginning players it was the all for the fun and learning. the teams we faced were hard fast and some even played in gumboots. We won 3 games and a rare try against tas-A. after the whole thing my legs were so sore T-T. I want to say thank you to Mataroa for letting me and the other seniors play in there team we all had a great time. :)

Dodging left and right we weaved our way through the gaps to try and score our next try. Trying not to knock the ball forward or get tackled. Trying to off load the ball before smack. only one way to go if you want to win forwards not backwards driving the ruck forwards recovering the ball from every tackle and the game repeats itself.  It was hard but we had truck loads of fun, thank you Mataroa for having us for your games.

On Thursday the 5Th of august  there was a torment called the rugby sevens. There was a huge crowd in the Taihape grand stand. Our team all got our tops on and headed down to the Field 7. we won one, lost 2 had one by, then drew 2. It was so fun maybe next year more of Taihape will decided to join the rugby sevens. I think that everyone would enjoy it!, that is if you tried it and like mud and bring some rugby boots a drink of Powerade long socks short black and white shorts and the first aid kit.
