From Marama

I am so proud (and slightly disgusted) my two super furry friends have started bringing home decapitated mice!  They are beginning to embrace their role as the official Pukeokahu School Pest Control Officers.  And speaking of roles being fulfilled … I am very pleased to announce that we have finally found a Super Star Grounds Person (which is lucky because the last time I drove a ride on mower I got stuck in a wire fence, ops).  Anyway, I am very glad to welcome Jessica into this vital role, the eradication of prickles is extremely important and the students bare feet thank you from the bottom of their toes.

The Pukeokahu eNewsletter (The PeN)

Did you know that from now on you can view the school newsletter on the school website?  Every Wednesday you will be able to access the current newsletter as well as look back over previous Newsletters.  I thought I might rename it “The PeN” short for “The Pukeokahu eNewsletter”.  I left the ‘School’ part out to make more of a community focus.  What do you think?  I would love to know, especially if you have a better idea.  Come visit our site and leave a comment on The PeN Post!

Digital Safety

I have added a new page to our school website called Digital Safety (this is still a work in progress, as I am not completely happy with the layout).  On this page you will find information about being safe on the Internet for Parents and Children.  I have added links to a few little games, like Hector’s World, which have been designed specifically to teach digital safety.  If you know of any other useful links let me know and I will add them to the site.

Hall Meeting:

The next hall meeting to discuss the Bike Ride and a debrief on the recent Horse Trek is 7.30pm  this Thursday the 18th of March at Rob and Mark Bryant’s house. All welcome.

Country Netball

We are having Country Netball registrations on Tuesday 23rd March at the Taihape Netball Courts, 3.30pm. If it is bad weather we will be at the Taihape Town Hall.  We will need coaches again this year for the teams so anybody willing to volunteer please let me know. I would appreciate the registration fee being paid on the day if possible. If you can’t make it for various reasons or any queries please ring Ju Chrystall.

School Trustee Elections

This year school communities around NZ will be selecting people to govern their schools. Elections are held every 3 years. It is now time to start thinking about joining our Pukeokahu Board of Trustees and come to the next meeting at school to see what happens and how you could become involved in our school as a parent representative on the BOT.
Soon nomination forms inviting people to put their names forward as a candidate in the forthcoming BOT elections, will be sent out. (Present BOT members do to have to re-nominate themselves as well.)
Please phone Heather (Returning Officer) if you have any enquiries.
