Sick by Shel Silverstein Read By Peita and Grace

Push Play on the Audiopal Players to hear Peita’s and Grace’s readings of the poem Sick by Shel Silverstein.

I really love the expression they have both used in their voices, I almost believe that they are really sick!

Sick in the bowl
I'm sick

Fun with Poetry

We have begun the term with some fun nonsense poetry, called Chiddlewaddle Diddlewaddle Doo.  Here are Lochy and Grace’s Poems, make sure you check out the other poems on the students’ ePortfolios!

Hop-hop on a kangaroos sock,

Snore-snore on a beaches shore,

Go to bed with a bit of led,

Chiddlewaddle Diddlewaddle Doo!

Waddle-waddle on a turkys gobble,

Poor-poor with a glass of shore,

Don’t be shy with a old mans pie

Chiddlewaddle Diddlewaddle Doo!

Tuter-tuter says the mans puter,

Shoot-shoot the dumb guys flute,

Go to sleep counting sheep,

Chiddlewaddle Diddlewaddle Doo!

Ski-ski on a big fat flea,

Laugh laugh with some bath,

Make your lunch with a painful punch,

Chiddlewaddle Diddlewaddle,

Chiddlewaddle Diddlewaddle

Chiddlewaddle Diddlewaddle Doo!

By Grace

Rip rip on a tumbling tip.

Claw claw on a fat cats paw.

Go to bed feeling like red.

Chiddlewaddle diddlewaddle doooooooo!

Stab stab a farmers stag.

kill kill abatmans till.

Go to home on a garden knome.

Chiddlewaddle diddlewaddle doooooooo!

Jump jump on a bottle of pump.

Eat eat something sweet.

Go to school and swim the pool.

Chiddlewaddle diddlewaddle doooooooo!

Ping ping on someones swing.

Buy buy a fat fly.

Go to sleep and try not to weep.

Chiddlewaddle diddlewaddle

Chiddlewaddle diddlewaddle

Chiddlewaddle diddlewaddle doooooooo!

Old Farmer Figgins Read By Lochy and Grace

Here is Pukeokahu School’s second poetry pod-cast.  The thinking activity for this poem was to draw a wanted/missing poster for Farmer Figgins drawn from the perspective of the farm animals.  We hope you enjoy it.

Welcome 2010

Let’s kick the year off with a hiss and a roar with Pukeokahu School’s first Podcast.

The students have been learning how to use a flow-map for sequencing stories as well as how to keep to a time frame.  I am actually a big meany and only those who had finished their activity in the given time frame were added to the podcast.  The students and I agreed that this is a good way for them to take responsibility for their learning and self management skills.
We used Garageband to record our readers then added music, sound effects and then finally the photos of the students flow maps.  Producing these kinds of digital learning objects is very easy within a Mac system and it won’t be long before the kids can start making podcasts on their own.
We would love to know what you think of our first Podcast in the comment boxes below.
