Flickr is one of my favourite Web2.0 applications. Flickr allows you to upload and share your photos. It has several privacy settings that allow you to decide how much and to whom you share with. Flickr is a great central place to store your photos – you can access them on any computer and many other Web2.0 applications (like Voicethread) work with Flickr allowing you to link your accounts together. You can also easily grab a photo’s URL from Flickr to easily embed them into many different applications such as Edublogs and RockYou.com.
At Pukeokahu School we use Flickr to store all of our school photos; you can find a link to our Flickr Site through a widget on our website sidebar. You can also see where I have used Flickr in Posts here and here. By storing our photos in Flickr students are able to access these photos easily and embed them into their ePortfolio – you can see an example of this on Max’s ePortfolio here and Lochy’s ePortfolio here.
Below are three screen casts explaining how to add a single Flickr photo and a Flickr slideshow to an Edublogs.org blog. (Just a warning PC users, I’m a Mac user so you may need to adapt one or two instructions on these screen casts).
