From Marama
I must say that we had quite a halaboloo this morning. As I was sleepily munching through my Bran Flakes, this morning, the phone rang. “Hello?” I say. “Hi Marama, it’s Carol. Do you have a cat handy? I’ve got three mice cornered in the school kitchen cupboard!” exclaims Carol. Aha! I chance to show off the amazing skills of my super mouse hunting machine … Super Cat Away!
In a flash, we arrived at the scene of the crime, the smell of anticipation in the air … “They’re in there” cries my trusty informant. In we go, Super Cat and I, creeping carefully towards the offenders. I feel my faithful sidekick straining to get free, ready to do the job she was made for!
Carefully now, I lean forward placing Super Cat down as I ease the cupboard door open. There they, menacing rodent eyes peering at us from the shady bowels of the cupboard. Right Super Cat, time to do your stuff, she eye-balls the mice then … BANG … GONE! WHAT…?
“Wow, that’s the first time I’ve seen a cat run away FROM a mouse before!” declares my informant. (sigh) “Maybe she’s watching her weight?” I ponder wearily as I watch Super Cat bump into the glass door in her hurried retreat from the cupboard of rather small critters (double sigh).
Luckily, as Super Cat streaked across the school grounds to save the warm spots on my bed from extinction, Tina arrived with her two K9 Caped Crusaders. These mighty crime fighting machines had our, by now one, furry fiend cornered in a matter of minutes.
In Super Cats defense there was a rather large dead rat on our back door step this morning, maybe she was just choosing her battles?
Hall AGM – Tonight
All welcome to join the Hall Committee for the AGM tonight at 7.30pm at Rob and Mark Bryant’s.
End of Term Presentation Afternoon
I am so proud of the Pukeokahu Students. We had our Presentation Afternoon yesterday and they all did such a fabulous job. Every child in the school, from our New Entrant, Logan to our Senior Boy Max, spoke confidently and knowledgeably in front of an audience. Not an easy thing to do especially when they had to also use a Slideshow to augment their presentation.
Did you know that the Fear of Public Speaking (a social phobia) is consistently placed in the top ten of the most common phobias. It is periodically ranked higher than a Fear of Heights which generally doesn’t even make the top ten list (either a fear of snakes or spiders is usually number one).
So well done guys, you all did a fabulous job we are all very proud of you!
