A warm welcome to Pukeokahu School. Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education.
At Pukeokahu School our aim is to ensure all children have access to the New Zealand Curriculum in a way that meets their learning needs. While we have a small roll, we do not let this get in the way of providing a wide range of opportunities for enriched learning experiences outside of the classroom. In fact our small roll is what pushes us to get the children out and about to broaden their cultural, sporting and social interactions where possible.
We are proud to be an Enviro-School, with environmental education having a huge role within our learning programmes. In 2022 we were awarded a Silver Enviroschool Award.
Our school values are outlined below. These values are weaved throughout everything that we do.
If your child has already been enrolled in a New Zealand school all that we require is the attached enrolment form completed and returned before starting. For children starting school for the first time we need to see a copy of their birth certificate and immunisation record. This is a Ministry of Education requirement.
For children starting school for the fi rst time it is highly recommended that they have a minimum of 4 school visits prior to their fi rst full day. This allows them to become familiar with our environment and sets them up for a more successful transition from their early childhood setting to school. Visit days need to be pre-arranged, however the actual times and days can be fl exible to suit the needs of your child. It is preferred that during the fi rst visit your child is accompanied by an adult for the duration of the visit. This adult is welcome to remain in the classroom or enjoy some quiet time in the staffroom. For visits after this you are welcome to leave and return at the agreed time to pick your child up.
We have a school uniform that our students wear with pride. This uniform consists of a hoodie with the school logo and t-shirt. Both are black with orange trims. Students may wear any type of black long pants, shorts, skirt etc with the t-shirt and hoodie. Black long sleeve tops may be worn under the tshirt in cooler months. Any type of raincoat / jacket and shoes are permitted.
All students are issued with a sports uniform to be worn at sporting events. These remain the property of the school.
